Revolutionizing the Travel Booking Experience with AI

The last time a change this big happened bricks and mortar travel agents disappeared from the high street.

2000 - search online for your options

2023 - still doing it the same old way - the world record for the number of tabs open in a browser to find the right thing at the best price.

Late 2023 or 2024 - Create your personal Trip Avatar and the AI will let you know your options

2024 or 2025 - the AI will ask you questions to improve your trip Avatar

2024 or 2025 - the AI will prompt you with questions to make your trip Avatar better

These changes will have significant changes on the way that consumers and business search and pay for travel and how travel is sold worldwide. Some of the existing travel marketplaces, OTA's, and meta sites will embrace and thrive and others will have a Kodak moment.

What the heck is a Trip Avatar?

I envisage a Trip to Avatar to be a version of myself tailored to the specific trip I am looking for.

Trip Avatars will have some commonalities based on the person and some unique elements based on the purpose. The winners in travel search in the future will become experts at helping (by asking questions) potential travelers define their Trip Avatars. A good trip Avatar creation engine will get down to the "why? " and "what's important to you?" questions. For example, a Business Trip Avatar may be all about speed and efficiency whereas a family vacation Trip Avatar might be about experiences and value. The next-level Avatars will be able to combine trip components and provide results based on what is important to the person in relation to the specific trip.

Imagine going onto a travel website.

Instead of a box asking for Dates, Destination, and the number of people you are guided through a Trip Avatar creation process that learns about what you want, refines it, finds it, and helps you book it.

For example - "Find two tickets available with my Airmiles on any 4-day round trip for a flight lasting no more than 3 hours from my home airport to any destination where the average temperature is over 70 degrees. Present five destination options that have a flight leaving on a Thursday and provide lodging options for a luxury hotel with rates of less than $350 per night and that have a spa and golf course within one mile"

In the summary below I asked Chat GPT 4 to summarize a chat asking it to help find options for a trip to a nearby resort. I asked ChatGPT 4 to summarize the prompts and conversation.
